Ambassador Danny Danon, Israel's 17th Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Chairman of the World Likud expressed his condolences Tuesday following the passing of billionaire mogul Sheldon Adelson.
"It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Sheldon Adelson", Danon said, "a Zionist and philanthropist who was a steadfast and faithful friend to Israel. He was a central figure in the Jewish world and helped strengthen Israel’s standing both in the US and internationally".
"Adelson contributed greatly to many of Israel’s historic events including the transfer of the US embassy to Jerusalem", Danon added, "He devoted his life to doing good and the family generously donated hundreds of millions to medical research, education and charities, both in Israel and the US. His parting is a huge loss for the Jewish nation and he will be truly missed. Miri and his family are in our thoughts and prayers. Blessed be his memory."
