Iranian journalist Fereshteh Sadeghi quoted reports as saying the country's state airline was facing bankruptcy.
"Iran's flag carrier IranAir is on the verge of bankruptcy due to heavy debts, inability to repay banking facilities which amount to 7 trillion toman + $700 million. There is even words of halting flights over the situation," he tweeted.
"The coronavirus pandemic and cancellation of domestic and International flights put additional burden on IranAir, one of the oldest airlines in the [region]. The airlines reportedly asked [the Iranian Parliament] to provide it with some financial assistance in next year’s budget, but to no avail so far."
