Last weekend, the police issued 12,400 fines for disobeying government COVID-19 orders.
Most were issued for leaving a place of residence for a disallowed purpose or action - 9,881, including 1,793 punitive fines for not wearing a face mask, 137 for breaching isolation, 161 for various violations by businesses, and 358 for being in a public place where activities have been banned.
