Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi today addressed the riots around the Congress in Washington.

"I was shocked to see last night's attack on the US Congress, the stronghold of world democracy, and it must be strongly condemned. From the dawn of its rise, the United States, our firm and great friend, has been the beacon of democracy and values of liberty, justice and independence.

"I am sure that the American people and their elected representatives knew how to fend off this attack and continue to firmly defend the values on which the United States, which is important to us all, was founded," Ashkenazi said.
