In an interview with Yediot Aharonot, Blue & White party leader Benny Gantz insisted that he would lead his party into the next elections, even if it appeared that Blue & White would barely scrape past the electoral threshold.

"I will carry on," Gantz said. "Ben Gurion retreated to the Negev and later returned; Arik Sharon found himself virtually friendless in the Knesset for years and yet remained. I serve the Jewish People," he insisted. "Only at the point where they show me that they don't want me in the Knesset anymore - that's when I'll leave."

Gantz added that, "I do think that I have a great deal of support - I represent thousands of people, and in my estimation, even hundreds of thousands and hopefully many hundreds of thousands. I feel that I am here on behalf of a great number of people who want to see someone with a background in security and state affairs, with a sense of national responsibility, with integrity, leading the country."
