MK Ayoub Kara (Likud) launched a scathing attack against Ron Huldai's new "Israelis" party, accusing it of attempting to return Israel to the situation it was in during the early days of the State, when Ben Gurion's Mapai party effectively controlled the entire country and relegated anyone outside his "camp" to second-class status.

"[Huldai's party] is a party of 'first-ranking' Israel against 'second-ranking' Israel," Kara accused, "just like things were when the State was established, when the left wing and the Mapai party controlled everything in the country.

"We must never return to those dark days of discrimination when only 'the right people' enjoyed the benefits of living here and everyone else was relegated to the position of 'woodchoppers and water carriers,'" he added.
