Professor Ran Blitzer, head of the government's coronavirus taskforce of expert advisers to the COVID project manager, discussed the rise in infection rates this morning on Galei Tzahal.
"We are seeing a worrying rise in infections," he said. "At the current rate, we will see a doubling in the number of those infected over the next two to three weeks."
He added that, "Even if we manage to vaccinate 70% of the over-60 age group, we still won't manage to avert a rise in serious cases and in mortality. We will have to vaccinate a very significant portion of the population before we can put this thing behind us."
