Authorities in the UK reported 53,135 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the highest daily figure in the country since the outbreak of the virus. The total number of infections now stands at 2,382,865.
414 individuals also succumbed to the virus during that time period with the local death toll now up to 71,567.
