The Forum of Private Preschools & Kindergartens has appealed to the government's coronavirus cabinet, asking its members to reconsider their decision to order preschools to close at one p.m. during the country's third nationwide lockdown, due to start next week.

"The decision to allow preschools to remain open only between eight and one has no reasonable basis to it," the Forum argues. "This decision will only damage preschools even more, at a time when many of them are already struggling to survive due to the recent lockdowns, and will also harm the education of the children. It will also make it impossible for parents, who will barely be able to work a quarter of the day if the preschools close at one. There is no logical reason whatsoever for requiring the preschools to close early - in any case, children who usually stay until four remain in the same capsules from the morning, with the same children."
