Labor MK Merav Michaeli has welcomed the news that party leader Amir Peretz is stepping down from his position.
"Better late than never," she told Kan Bet this morning. "The Labor party is a foundation stone of the center-left in Israel. I have proven above and beyond my personal reliability," she added, suggesting that she will stand for party leader.
"I believe in peace with the Palestinians, but a peace within limits," she added. "And Israel must become a country that truly looks after the welfare of its citizens."
