Speaking on Galei Tzahal this morning, the government's coronavirus project manager, Prof. Nachman Ash, expressed his opinion that the two weeks decided upon by the government for a third nationwide lockdown is insufficient.
"Two weeks isn't long enough," he said. "In my opinion, the lockdown should be extended beyond that."
Ash also explained the reasoning behind allowing schools to remain open, but only until one o'clock. "To make the regulations effective, everyone has to finish class at the same time," he said, "rather than having some classes end at one, and others at four or five. If everyone finishes at the same time, this will reduce the number of people circulating on the street as well as the likelihood of them transmitting the virus to one another."
