Knesset Speaker MK Yariv Levin responded to Minister Ze'ev Elkin's announcement that he will leave the Likud and join Gideon Sa'ar's party.

"I was very surprised by Minister Ze'ev Elkin's remarks. Ze'ev knows very well that contrary to everything he wrote, Prime Minister Netanyahu always put national considerations before any other consideration. As someone who was a partner in not a few negotiations, Minister Elkin is also well aware that no matter concerning the personal immunity of the prime minister has ever been a condition in any coalition negotiations."

"Unfortunately, it is Minister Elkin who prefers personal consideration over loyalty. Instead of strengthening the Likud's demand for fundamental changes in the justice system, he validates this other demand and joins those who seek to perpetuate the serious shortcomings in the justice system and its appointment process," Levin said.
