Likud MK Ofir Katz responded to the sentence of six months of community service given to a caregiver convicted of assaulting a seven-month-old baby.
"I was shocked to hear the shameful sentence for an abuser of a toddler from Jerusalem. Just heartbreaking. Three-and-a-half years in which the life of the parents was stopped. I talked to and strengthened them also today.
"Last week my request for a constitutional committee hearing on this horrific injustice was approved; we will demand answers from the justice system about the disgrace.
"Another disaster must be prevented and my law must be passed immediately to increase the punishment for child abusers."
