A coronavirus vaccine being developed by the French company Sanofi along with the UK's GlaxoSmithKline has suffered a significant setback, after Phase 2 clinical trials showed it to produce an "insufficient immune response," Reuters reports.
Sanofi's statement noted that the vaccine caused "an immune response comparable to patients who recovered from Covid-19 in adults aged 18 to 49 years, but a low immune response in older adults."
Sanofi and GSK plan to begin a new study next year.
