The Movement for Governance and Democracy responded to the approval of the Equality Law in preliminary reading.

"There is equality in the State of Israel, in all areas of administration, and also in legislation. The Supreme Court even disqualified many laws with clear authority, because in the opinion of the 'superiors' they were intended to infringe on equality. The new Equality Law will do nothing to add equality. On the contrary, it will deepen the marked inequality caused by the fact that 15 judges that no-one chose have more power to influence policy and values than 9 million citizens.

"It is unfortunate that Knesset Members are relinquishing their responsibilities and authority and transferring additional power to the Supreme Court Party," the movement said.
