Gabi Barbash, former director general of the Ministry of Health, commented on the increase in coronavirus morbidity, “We can see the end of the plague approaching. Meanwhile the numbers are growing. The government is delaying what needs to be done and is having a hard time making decisions. Every day we delay, we will be required to make a bigger lockdown and take more dramatic steps," he told Reshet Bet.

Ahead of the Coronavirus Cabinet hearing, he said, "We need to decide whether to prioritize trade or schools. Both are impossible. The malls need to close but it is not certain that closing them will allow us to go through the two-three months until vaccination quietly. An open education system increases hospital numbers."

On the public's fear of getting vaccinated, Prof. Barbash said, "The vaccine has been tested on tens of thousands of people. Its side effects for the near future are known. The vaccine mechanism is clear and well known. It seems very safe. I would take it myself."
