A survey in the French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche has shown that only 41% those polled plan to be vaccinated against coronavirus.
The Guardian cites a recent Gallup poll conducted in the United States by way of comparison - 58% of respondents said they would get the shot.
French President Emmanuel Macron has so far rebuffed calls to make vaccination compulsory, saying that he hopes to convince citizens that the vaccine is safe and efficient.
