Professor Yinon Ashkenazi, a member of Hebrew University's panel of experts on coronavirus, told Galei Tzahal this morning that the country is in danger of slipping back into deep crisis.

"If we don't manage to arrest this downward spiral, within two to four weeks we will be seeing worrying numbers of infections," he said. "We'll be right back where we were in September," prior to the country's second lockdown.

Ashkenazi added that, "There's no doubt that we are now in the beginning stages of a third wave, and this has come about because we failed to isolate local outbreaks, such as that in Rahat which then spread to Beer Sheva. The same thing is happening now in Jerusalem," he claimed.
