Speaking on Reshet Bet this morning, Education Minister Yoav Galant (Likud) was asked for his opinion on a last-minute compromise agreement that would avert elections.

"There are plenty of options open," Galant said. "Netanyahu's suggestion to pass the state budget within the next two months is definitely realistic. However, the Blue & White party has, to date, been sabotaging the government. They are relating to the budget as if it were a political tool. If we can reach an agreement on the matter, we may yet manage to save the coalition."

Moving on to the issue of the coronavirus epidemic, Galant said he was not worried that the reopening of the education system would lead to a spike in the number of cases. "What happens within schools is simply a reflection of what is happening within the general population, not its cause. As long as people adhere to the guidelines, I am not concerned about an increase in contagion," he said.
