Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lior Hiait responded to the EU anti-Semitism decision, saying: "Israel welcomes the European Council statement emphasizing the central place of the fight against anti-Semitism on the European agenda.
"We also welcome the reference to the states' commitment to the fight against anti-Semitism and to the protection of Jewish life in Europe, including through legal means.
"The statement reflects a firm stance on anti-Semitic phenomena, including physical and anti-Semitic attacks in the digital space.
"We hope and expect that the statement will help EU member states deal with the phenomenon of anti-Semitism, especially in this period of rising anti-Semitism in Europe."
