Speaking on Kan Bet this morning, MK Mansour Abbas (Joint List) explained why he has chosen to cooperate on a number of matters with Prime Minister Netanyahu.
"I am doing all I can to hold the Joint List together and I hope it will do so," he said. "Historically, we have always been in the left wing parties' pocket, but personally, that doesn't apply. I prefer to make connections with parties from across the political spectrum, with one aim in mind - to provide solutions for the Israeli Arab population."
He added that, "The Likud party under Netanyahu has been effectively running the country for many years now. That's why I see it as necessary to be in contact with them, in order to advance the interests of the Arab community. I'm not doing anything in support of Netanyahu per se. The only people who are furthering Netanyahu's interests are those who are trying to break up the Joint List."
