French President Emmanuel Macron told citizens the worst of the 2nd coronavirus wave in the country was behind them.
The French leader also announced lockdown lockdown measures were being eased.
Citizens will now be allowed to spend up to 3 hours outside of their homes, travel within a distance of 20 kl.
City stores will remain open till 9pm. Bars and restaurants, however, are only expected to reopen in the mid-January.
