The government's grant to people who have been unemployed for an extended period this year due to the COVID epidemic and government lockdown regulations is being distributed this week.
Social Security is depositing the grants in the accounts of around 262,000 people who were unemployed for at least 100 days this year (not necessarily consecutively). Each person receives NIS 2,000 and couples where both partners qualify receive NIS 5,000 together.
The grant is being paid out to more than 246,000 individuals or couples, and also to another approximately 15,500 pensioners who received an "adjustment grant" this year after being rendered unemployed.
