The deputy director of Sheba hospital, Prof. Arnon Afek, told Reshet Bet this morning that his hospital was ready to begin vaccinations for coronavirus.
"The priority is to vaccinate the elderly, those otherwise at-risk, and medical personnel," he said. "The logistics [with the Pfizer vaccine specifically] are complicated, as the vaccine must be stored at minus 70 degrees Celsius. At Sheba, we have the facilities to enable this, but they don't exist everywhere."
Commenting on the likelihood of a third nationwide lockdown, Afek said that, "The government and its expert advisers have already told us what we need to do in order to avoid that eventuality. Now it's up to us - each one of us - to decide whether we're going to adhere to the guidelines. If we do, and we don't hold large weddings or other mass events, we won't need a third lockdown."
