Speaking on Galei Tzahal this morning, Health Minister Yuli Edelstein addressed ongoing controversy about the tenure of outgoing coronavirus project manager Prof. Ronni Gamzu, saying that, "It's ridiculous to suggest that Prof. Gamzu didn't have any authority. He was given broad authority, and he said as much himself, on numerous occasions."
Edelstein added that, "The government's coronavirus cabinet is at a crossroads. I hope that the decision to allow street stores to open [ahead of schedule] was an isolated occurrence and that now we'll get back on track - and if we don't, we can look forward to a third wave of the virus."
Asked to comment on vaccine development and distribution, the Health Minister said that "even according to the most optimistic scenario, a significant quantity of vaccine doses isn't going to arrive in Israel in the coming year."
