Israel's football association has fined the Maccabi Netanya club since two of its players refused to be interviewed on Shabbat.
According to a football association agreement with the media, players are obligated to be interviewed following their games. However, Shabbat observant players, who walk to their games on Shabbat, would not participate in interviews on electronic media since such a practice is a Shabbat violation.
Knesset member Betzalel Smotrich (Yamina) has brought this matter to the attention of the public.
