According to data provided by the Health Ministry, 7,639 people tested positive for coronavirus yesterday, with a smaller proportion of tests coming back positive than has been seen in previous days this week.
No new coronavirus-related deaths have been reported since midnight, and the number of people on ventilators has dropped by two during the same period, to 196.
The number of patients categorized as seriously ill has also declined - significantly - over the past few days, from a high of 856 on September 30 to 831 on October 1 to 807 this morning.
