MK Avigdor Liberman, head of the Yisrael Beytenu party, has again demanded that the government transfer authority for all matters related to dealing with the coronavirus epidemic to the army and to local authorities.
"Despite the capsule outline that was formulated, today we found out that around 16,000 haredim didn't learn in capsules at all," he accused. "Something else that many people probably already know: Even though large gatherings have been prohibited on Sukkot, the haredi population has erected massive sukkahs to accommodate hundreds or even thousands of people. As a prize for their outstanding display of public spirit, the government now plans to reopen the yeshivas after Sukkot even as synagogues are forbidden to open.
"The prime minister and the reserve prime minister should know: You are responsible for this," he added. "The only solution is to transfer dealing with the epidemic to the army, the Home Front, and local authorities."
