Speaking on Reshet Bet this morning, Economy Minister Amir Peretz (Labor) commented on yesterday's altercation between Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Benny Gantz during a meeting of the coronavirus cabinet, and stressed the importance of the government coming to a clear agreement on the issues involved.
"Once we reach an agreement, we need to stand by it," Peretz said. "We shouldn't be in a situation where, two weeks into the lockdown, we still haven't seen that the restrictions are impacting the rates of contagion and we start changing the rules. Though I can understand that the Prime Minister is under a lot of pressure."
Peretz added that, "It seems likely that Netanyahu is trying to change things now so that people forget that we emerged from the first lockdown far too quickly - after all, he was the person making the decisions back then. But we are a moderating force in the government, and there won't be any expansion of the restrictions."
