Attorneys representing Prime Minister Netanyahu have attacked Attorney-General Dr. Avichai Mandelblit following his interview with the Mishpacha magazine, in the course of which he stated that the option of declaring the Prime Minister incapable of continuing in his role had not been ruled out.
"The notion that an official, senior as he may be, who finds himself in a situation of conflict of interest, can rule on such a matter regarding an incumbent prime minister is anti-democratic, an attempt to frustrate the will of the electorate, and in complete violation of the Basic Law of Government," they stated.
Netanyahu's lawyers also claimed that the interview itself constituted a criminal offense and constituted "a perversion of the course of justice."
