MK Shlomo Karhi (Likud) has criticized the Attorney-General, Avichai Mandelblit, following the release of recordings in which Mandelblit was heard saying that "if a defendant uses governmental powers, this will constitute a serious problem," and that he does not rule out the option of declaring Netanyahu unfit to govern.
"If that's what you believe, then why are you still in your position?" Karhi said. "What you accuse Netanyahu of doing is exactly what you are doing yourself - using the powers granted to you in order to hide behind the law and hide your friends with you, and all this solely in order to topple this right-wing government and its leader. If the Attorney-General has the audacity to override the decision of the people, then he reveals the real strength of our democracy," Karhi concluded.
