In an interview granted to the Yisrael Hayom newspaper (to be published in full tomorrow), opposition leader MK Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid) strongly criticized his former political partner, Benny Gantz (Blue & White), saying, "I don't know why he remains in this government. It's obvious that Netanyahu has no intention of respecting the rotation agreement. It's also obvious that Gantz stands no chance of being able to achieve what he wants to achieve. This government is a disaster."

According to Lapid, "Gantz and Ashkenazi should be apologizing - not to me, but to those who voted for them."

Pressed on the fact that Gantz, and now fellow party member Ofer Shelah, have turned their backs on him, Lapid said, "I have an agreement with myself that I continue to believe in people - and sometimes I suffer from it, but I still prefer this way of living to living with paranoia and suspicion and always looking over my shoulder. I've seen what that way of living has done to Netanyahu. It's soul-destroying and has caused him to suspect everyone, all the time. I prefer to trust people, and sometimes it doesn't work out."
