Speaking on Radio 103 FM this morning, Science Minister Yizhar Shay (Blue & White), a member of the government's coronavirus cabinet, insisted that it was wrong to call the impending closure a "lockdown."

"It's not really a lockdown," he protested. "It's simply a raft of restrictions that we hope will produce results within three weeks. We got to a situation where we have thousands of new cases per day, and we have to treat this seriously. We have to provide a personal example - my elderly parents are going to be alone during Rosh Hashanah," he added.
