Speaking on Galei Tzahal this morning, opposition head MK Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid) insisted that people should abide by lockdown regulations - as long as they are understandable.

"We have to adhere to the restrictions - as long as we can understand them," he said. "This lockdown is due to begin in another 32 hours, and the government hasn't actually authorized it yet, as there are no clear guidelines. At some point in the future, when we look back to try and understand how it was that the Israeli government lost public confidence, we'll look at the events of this week."

Referring to demonstrations specifically, Lapid said, "Despite what people say in the Knesset, there is no proof whatsoever that the virus is spread at protests. Everyone knows that the transmission rate is low outside, in the open air. If we adhere to the rules, there's no reason why we can't stand on the bridges, for example - and we will continue our battle within the boundaries of the rules."
