This evening saw one of the largest protests yet in Belarus, Reuters reports, with over 100 thousand people on the streets of Minsk, the capital city, calling for President Alexander Lukashenko to be ousted.
Lukashenko claimed victory in the August 9 election; official results showed that 80% of voters chose him, extending his rule into its 27th year.
A massive column of protesters marched today chanting, "Long Live Belarus," and "You're a rat."
Around 250 people were arrested. Protesters arrested in previous demonstrations have described being tortured by police.
