6.5-magnitude earthquake hits near Chile's coast

A 6.5-magnitude earthquake has struck near the coast of northern Chile, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reports. The quake occurred at a depth of 44 kilometers.

No tsunami alert has been issued.
