This morning's coronavirus cabinet meeting is expected to be particularly fractious - among the matters to be proposed for consideration at the meeting by the government's coronavirus project manager are: the extension of closure orders on schools in "red cities"; the question of restrictions to mobility in "red cities," from night curfews achieved via closure orders on businesses, to full lockdowns.

There are currently 23 cities and towns listed as "red" including Bnei Brak and Elad. In coming days the cabinet will be asked to authorize the addition of several other towns to the "red" list, due to a high rate of contagion in them, including haredi towns. There are also several "orange" neighborhoods within cities such as Ashdod, Jerusalem, and Beit Shemesh that are teetering on the brink of being declared "red."
