U.S. Postmaster Louis DeJoy has told lawmakers that the Postal Service will deliver ballots “securely and on time” in the November presidential election, Reuters reports.
DeJoy has donated $2.7 million to Trump and other Republicans in the past, and has now been forced to defend himself against allegations by Democrats that he is trying to tilt the election in President Trump's favor.
“The American people should feel comfortable that the Postal Service will deliver on this election,” he told the Senate Homeland Security Committee. Up to half of U.S. voters are expected to cast their ballots via post this coming election, due to coronavirus concerns.
