The official number of coronavirus cases in India has passed the three-million-mark, the BBC reports. So far, 56,706 deaths associated with the epidemic have been reported.
Nonetheless, the Indian government is continuing to reopen the economy in order to avert total economic devastation.
Only the United States and Brazil have more reported cases than India; the US has 5.75 million reported cases, and Brazil has 3.58 million.
