US President Donald Trump has declared a "major disaster" in California in face of deteriorating weather conditions that threaten to cause yet more wildfires, The Guardian reports.
The declaration is of practical import as it allows the state to access federal funds to help battle the flames.
California has already requested help from Canada and Australia to bring the fires under control. Almost a million acres have already been scorched in the last week, with six dead, hundreds of homes destroyed, and over a hundred thousand people displaced.
