Israel has extradited two Israeli citizens to the United States who lived in the US for a number of years and fled to Israel to escape serving lengthy prison sentences after committing various crimes.
In the first case, Boaz Ben Moshe (also known as Dominic Gutaya) was found guilty of illegal trading in prescription medications in the state of New Hampshire. His dealings netted him hundreds of thousands of dollars. He is also wanted by justice officials in the state of California for running a network of prostitution services and for money laundering. He fled to Israel via Mexico in 2009, just before sentencing in New Hampshire, and following a request from the US was arrested in Israel in January of 2019.
In the second case, Aviv Shoham Shwartz Mizrahi was found guilty in the state of California of obtaining loans from various banks on false pretenses, to the total sum of $36 million. He fled the US in 2008 and was arrested in Jerusalem in February of 2019, at the request of the United States.
