Deputy Knesset Speaker MK Sharren Haskel (Likud) has condemned the judiciary's decision to prosecute a Jew who recited the Kaddish prayer on the Temple Mount.
"In any other country, people would call this anti-Semitism, but when it happens here, in the Jewish State, there are those who think it's normal," she said.
"This is especially egregious, considering that we have just permitted hundreds of thousands of Muslims from countries all over the world to enter Israel [to pray on the Temple Mount]. We should be proud of our wonderful country, the only country in the Middle East to grant freedom of religion to all faiths. We should overturn this ban on Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount, and apply freedom of religious expression to all faiths."
Haskel later noted that she had referred the issue to Internal Security Minister Amir Ohana, who had assured her that the matter was being dealt with, and added that, "I am relying on him [to keep his word]."
