Professor Hezi Levy, director-general of the Health Ministry, spoke with Kan News today, and admitted that the health system was struggling to cope with the increase in coronavirus cases.
"We are very concerned," he said. "Right now, we're in a situation where one day the numbers are increasing and the next day it looks like things are stabilizing. The hospitals are full, with serious cases and people on ventilators. Despite our appeals to the general public to comply with the regulations, people do not always adhere to the rules."
Levy added that, "In areas of high rates of contagion, we are closely monitoring the situation. I very much hope that we will not be forced to declare a lockdown during the upcoming festivals."
