Responding to the Knesset's discussion on environmental issues raised by construction of industrial zones in Judea and Samaria, Deputy Knesset Speaker Sharren Haskel (Likud) accused fellow MK Ofer Cassif (Joint List) of being politically rather than environmentally motivated in his opposition to construction.

"MK Cassif is not really interested in the environment," she alleged. "He didn't show up to protest against infrastructure work taking place in protected areas in the Judean Desert or at the Nahal Machoch nature reserve.

"For Joint List MK Ofer Cassif, protection of the environment is just a means of preventing the development of Judea and Samaria. I will continue to fight for the development of the entire country, and against the Joint List's activities," she concluded.
