Chairman of Meretz, Nitzan Horowitz, said he would propose a law banning an individual charged with a criminal case from forming a government.
"Someone charged with a crime shouldn't be able to run an entire country according to his whims and criminal interests. This self-evident law would safeguard the state, the Israeli economy and democracy, and prevent criminal suspects from being able to form the government," he said.
Horowitz said there was a Knesset majority for passing the law which would actively prevent PM Netanyahu from forming another coalition government.
