According to US Defense Secretary Mark Esper, the United States is planning to withdraw around 6,400 troops from Germany, and to transfer another 5,600 from Germany to other European countries.
US President Donald Trump had previously expressed his intention to withdraw troops from Germany. Esper noted that the plan will cost the Pentagon billions of dollars to implement, which will be paid off over several years.
