Laurent Duvernay-Tardif has become the first NFL player to sit out the 2020-2021 season due to fears of contracting the coronavirus.

Fox News reported that the Canada native and Offensive Guard for last year's Super Bowl winner Kansas City Chiefs was very distraught about the situation.

“This is one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make in my life but I must follow my convictions and do what I believe is right for me personally,” his statement read. “Being at the front line during this offseason has given me a different perspective on this pandemic and the stress it puts on individuals and our healthcare system,” he tweeted.
