Egypt approved the movement of troops to its "western front" to battle "criminal militias" on Monday.
A statement by the country's parliament announced the move was being carried out to "defend [Egypt's] national interests."
A Reuters report stated that the announcement was likely referencing Libya, Egypt's neighbor to the west.
