Wearing a face mask is already obligatory on public transport in France; now the government is to demand that everyone wear masks in all indoor public spaces, with a €135-Euro ($154) fine for anyone found flouting the new law.

The Guardian reports that the new regulations will apply to stores, supermarkets, banks, and any other enclosed area that the public can access. The fine is considerable, equivalent to around double the price of a monthly pass on Parisian public transport.

Wearing masks in offices will be decided on a case-by-case basis by employers, the government has said.

Over 30,150 people have died of coronavirus-related complications in France.
