Yaakov Stern, a member of the Givatayim local council (holding the welfare portfolio) has called on the Treasury to come to an agreement with social workers as their strike enters its third week.
"Welfare services haven't been in operation for almost three weeks now," he said, "due to the social workers' justified battle for restructuring welfare services and normal working conditions.
"We have to get our social workers back to work as soon as possible ... unfortunately, many people rely on them. I believe that we could solve this problem quickly if the Treasury wants to listen to what they're saying and is willing to provide realistic and logical solutions to the problems."
